Late fall and winter don’t seem like a busy time for a nursery like Sprucedale Gardens. But in reality, a LOT needs to be done to get ready for the next season!

STEP ONE: RE-POTTING

The plants are put into larger pots so the roots can continue to grow.

David said, “It takes a few weeks to re-pot all of the plants!”

STEP TWO: PRUNING

Pruning encourages more branching for the following season and helps the plants maintain their shape. Laura demonstrated which areas to cut.

STEP THREE: PACKING IN GREENHOUSES

STEP FOUR: COVER WITH POLY BLANKET

The plants are then covered in a poly blanket before the green house frames are covered later in the season.
